I've launched Kantet 🚀, an independent web design and development studio. The idea behind it is simple: build web experiences that combine sharp design with solid engineering. This post covers what Kantet does, how the site is built, and why I made it the way I did.
What Kantet does
Kantet covers the whole path from idea to a running product. There are three core services:
- UI/UX design 🎨: turning an idea for a digital product into a finished design, on any platform.
- Web development 👨💻: building and maintaining websites, including making sure they perform well and can handle their traffic.
- Application development 📱: designing, building and implementing applications, with proper documentation.
The site itself
I wanted the site to show the studio's approach instead of just describing it. The design uses a blueprint-style grid: a framed column with visible rails, crosshairs and numbered sections like [ 01 / 03 ]. It's minimal and has plenty of whitespace, with large imagery and direct headlines. The homepage moves through services, the latest blog posts and featured work, then ends with a clear "Start a project" call to action.
Besides the homepage, the site has a few main sections:
- Work: case studies covering what was built, for whom, and why the choices were made.
- Blog: practical articles on topics like WordPress updates, security vulnerabilities and universal design.
- Contact: a simple way to get in touch about a new project.
Under the hood
Kantet runs on a modern, lean stack ⚙️:
- Next.js and React 19, using the App Router and server components.
- Sanity as the CMS, with the Studio embedded right in the site. Blog posts, cases, services and homepage content are all editable there.
- Tailwind CSS 4 for styling, with light and dark themes.
- Resend to deliver contact form emails, and PhotoSwipe for image galleries in the case studies.
- Vercel for hosting and analytics.
One part I'm especially happy with is the content workflow 🤖. Sanity is connected to an MCP server, so I can draft blog posts and case studies with an AI assistant straight into the CMS. Drafts are always created unpublished, and I review and publish everything myself in the Studio.
Featured work
The first cases on the site are two of my own projects:
- Home Wiki 🏠: a private, self-hosted household hub for meal planning, recipes, shopping, calendar, smart home, energy prices, budget and documents.
- Document Tool 🗂️: a macOS menu bar app. Hold a key while dragging a file, and a ring of actions appears under your cursor.
Let's build something
If you have a website, an app or a product idea that needs design, development or both, I'd love to hear about it. Visit kantet.no/contact and let's start a project 👋.
